The Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to hold its swearing-in ceremony on November 20 in Bihar’s Gandhi Maidan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other NDA leaders are expected to attend the grand evening.

The Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a landslide victory in the Bihar assembly elections as it won 202 of the state’s 243 seats. The coalition’s two major constituents – the BJP and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) – won 89 and 85 seats, respectively.

In sharp contrast, the Mahagathbandhan crumbled under the wave. The RJD managed just 25 seats, the Congress collapsed to 6, and the Left parties together secured only 3. The BSP and IIP picked up one seat each.

After the Bihar results were out, the attention has now shifted to the government formation in Bihar, with JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar poised to take the top office for the 10th term, joining the list of the longest-serving chief ministers.

All Eyes On Govt Formation

Sources earlier told CNN-News18 that the BJP-JD(U) alliance is likely to adopt the same formula as ticket distribution as they used in the elections. Nitish Kumar’s JDU may get the CM post, while the BJP and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) one deputy CM each.

During the ticket distribution, for every MP, an NDA partner was given five-six assembly seats. So, it is likely that the same formula may be in place for cabinet berths. For instance, with 84 MLAs, the JD(U) could now get 14 berths.

All partners in the alliance are expected to be accommodated in proportion to the number of seats they have won, ensuring a balanced power-sharing arrangement in the new government. Following these internal consultations, the NDA will convene a joint legislative party meeting, where the alliance’s legislative party leader will be formally chosen.
