Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahni’s “I’ll be deputy CM" remark has caught the attention of the BJP, which took a swipe at the Mahagathbandhan ally over seat-sharing “troubles" with the RJD.

Explaining the seat-sharing formula with the RJD for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, Sahni told News18: “I will be deputy CM, it is clear. I wanted 60 seats but now I am ready for slightly above 50% of those seats."

The BJP took this as an opportunity to attack the opposition INDIA bloc, known as the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, saying “commotion continues unabated" in the alliance.

“The commotion in the LATH’bandhan continues unabated! Therefore, the people of Bihar know — for Bihar’s development, distance from the Mahathagbandhan is essential," the Bihar BJP wrote on X.

The BJP shared a video of Sahni with the caption “Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne" in a reference to 1989 television series about a man, who is the quintessential daydreamer.

Sahni has said the seat-sharing formula in the Mahagathbandhan has been finalised and a press conference will soon be held to announce the decision.

“Everything on seat sharing has been finalised internally. Perhaps tomorrow evening we will hold a press conference and give information," he told ANI.

Reacting to the BJP, he said their resolve is to defeat the BJP and oust it from the government. “When the BJP bought our MLAs and ousted us from the government three and a half years ago, our resolve was to defeat the BJP and oust them from the government. Therefore, we have been preparing for the last three and a half years," he added.

Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) is part of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, which comprises Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and other Left parties including CPI, CPI (ML) in Bihar. The alliance is set to give a contest to the Democratic Alliance (NDA), consisting of BJP, JD(U), LJP (RV), HAM among others.

The assembly elections will take place in two phases with voting on November 6 and 11, and the counting of votes on November 14.
