'Narratives Set From Abroad': BJP Alleges Foreign Links To Congress X Accounts

The BJP on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Congress, saying that several X accounts of the opposition party and its leaders are being operated from abroad to try to shape narratives in India.

Addressing a press conference, BJP MP Sambit Patra said that Congress, Rahul Gandhi and well-known faces from the Left have not left a stone unturned in insulting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India since the BJP came to power in 2014.

Patra said that Rahul Gandhi’s people, who have no connection to India, sitting in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Southeast Asia, West Asia, Europe, and America, set the narrative in India. “Rahul Gandhi doesn’t just go abroad and speak against the country; rather, he has been getting this work done from abroad with what planning and design," he added.

Elon Musk’s X has recently rolled out a new feature that discloses key information about an account’s background, including the user’s location, the frequency of username changes, and the date the account was created.

“For example, the official BJP account shows its location as India… The account of Congress’s senior leader, Pawan Khera, is based in the US. The Maharashtra Congress account is based in Ireland, but they have now changed it to INDIA. The X account of Himachal Pradesh Congress is connected via the Android app in Thailand," the BJP leader said.

Patra claimed the Congress attempted to set a narrative on vote theft and Operation Sindoor, using these people from abroad.

“These are fake accounts made by the Left-Congress ecosystem to demean India, to come to power and make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister one way or another… These people dont really exist. These are fake names and accounts. The narrative of ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ was being set in foreign countries… It is worrisome how far the Congress and its ecosystem can go," he said.
