Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Isa Khan, the sons of Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, have said they fear they may never see their father again as he continues to remain incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been in custody since August 2023 in connection with multiple corruption cases, which his supporters have consistently described as politically motivated.
Speaking to Sky News, the brothers said they have not seen or spoken to their father for several months, raising serious concerns about his physical and mental condition inside prison.
They alleged that Khan is being subjected to what they described as “psychological torture" while being held in what they called a “death cell". Kasim Khan, the younger son, said his father has been kept in solitary confinement for over two years.
“He’s had filthy water. He is around inmates who are dying of hepatitis. The conditions are disgusting, and he is completely isolated from any human contact," Kasim Khan was quoted as saying.
He added that even prison guards are allegedly barred from speaking to his father, intensifying his isolation.
“It’s getting harder to see a route out. We’re trying to have faith, but the conditions are getting worse. It’s very hard to see a way out. We’re now worried we might never see him again," Kasim Khan told journalist Yalda Hakim during the interview.
Imran Khan’s elder son, Sulaiman Khan, said his father spends nearly 23 hours a day inside his cell, which he described as a “death cell".
Sulaiman claimed that an army spokesperson had announced on Friday that the former prime minister was now officially being kept in full isolation.
“He is being held in completely substandard conditions that do not meet international legal standards for any prisoner," Sulaiman Khan said.
The remarks have added to growing concerns over Imran Khan’s treatment inside Adiala Jail.
Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Isa Khan are Imran Khan’s sons from his first marriage to British journalist and television personality Jemima Goldsmith.
