US-Iran War Live Updates: US-Iran tensions escalated further on Wednesday as American forces launched another round of airstrikes on military targets inside Iran, saying the strikes were aimed at eliminating "emerging threats" and degrading capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The fresh operation came ahead of a renewed US naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas. Tehran responded by claiming it had struck military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, including weapons depots and a drone launch ramp at Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base, calling the attacks retaliation for recent US strikes. Kuwait later said it intercepted one ballistic missile, five cruise missiles and 33 drones, accusing Iran of targeting vital civilian and military facilities. One Kuwaiti Navy vessel was hit and four service members were injured. Iran also hardened its stance on the Strait of Hormuz, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warning that "not a drop of oil and gas will be exported" from the region as long as US forces remain there, while a deputy foreign minister declared, "We will exercise our sovereignty on the Strait of Hormuz whatever that costs." Amid the military escalation, US President Donald Trump reversed his proposal to charge a 20 per cent fee on cargo transiting the strategic waterway just a day after announcing it.
