US-Iran War News Live Updates: US President Donald Trump vowed a forceful response after Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles towards American forces in the Middle East, saying the US would "beat the f***ing s**t out of them" after the missiles were intercepted by US air defences before reaching a military base in Jordan. Hours later, Washington announced fresh Iran-related sanctions targeting 10 entities and eight tankers, including six China-based firms, accusing Tehran of using insurance and maritime networks to generate revenue from shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US would not allow Iran to "hold global commerce hostage" or finance the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) through international shipping. Tensions escalated further after a drone struck the US-owned floating gas storage tanker Energos Winter at Egypt's Damietta port, triggering a fire that spread to another vessel. Although Egypt confirmed the fire and said there were no casualties, it did not mention a drone attack. No group claimed responsibility. Iran, meanwhile, confirmed launching missiles at US bases in Jordan and targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz while rejecting an Omani proposal for jointly managing the strategic waterway. The renewed hostilities rattled global energy markets, with Brent crude jumping more than 8% to above $90 a barrel as fears mounted over disruptions to one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.
