Devesh Mistry, an Indian-origin entrepreneur long regarded as one of the UAE's most influential digital design voices, has died, his company Red Blue Blur Ideas (RBBi) announced on Sunday. Gulf News reported that colleagues across the region remembered him as a pioneering figure in user experience design and a mentor to a generation of young professionals.

RBBi said Mistry was affectionately known as Superman, a nod to both his relentless drive and the agency's name, inspired by Superman's 'Red Blue Blur' streak in flight. The company, co-founded by Mistry and Amol Kadam in 2011, described him as a force who shaped its culture and approach from the start.

In a LinkedIn post, the Dubai-based agency wrote, "Our Co-Founder, Devesh Mistry, passed away. To many of us, he was our own Superman." The team said they were taking time to support one another through what they called a moment of "grief and reflection." The cause of death was not disclosed.

Gulf News noted that Mistry helped define the region's digital experience industry, pushing companies to prioritise user-friendly design long before it became standard practice. His career began in coding in the late 1990s, but his interest shifted to understanding how people interacted with digital products, eventually leading to the creation of RBBi, one of the Middle East's first UX–UI-focused agencies.

He worked with a wide roster of global clients, from Microsoft and IBM to Emirates NBD, MasterCard and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. But colleagues told Gulf News that Mistry's legacy extended far beyond client work. He was widely respected as a mentor who invested deeply in nurturing talent. He lectured and developed curriculum at the University of Dubai and earlier taught at the University of Technology in Sydney.

Originally from Mumbai and trained in physics, Mistry blended technical expertise with a curiosity for human behaviour that defined his work.
