Ajit Singh Chaudhary Went Missing On October 19
According to reports, Ajit Singh Chaudhary left his hostel around 11 am on October 19, telling fellow residents he was going out to buy milk. He never returned. His disappearance prompted extensive searches by local authorities and deep concern among the Indian student community in Ufa.
Alwar Saras Dairy chairman Nitin Sangwan said Chaudhary’s body was later recovered from a dam adjacent to the White River.
Clothes And Belongings Found Earlier Near Riverbank
Former Union Minister Jitendra Singh Alwar said Ajit Singh Chaudhary’s clothes, mobile phone and shoes had been found on the riverbank 19 days earlier. He alleged that the circumstances surrounding the student’s death appeared suspicious and that “an untoward incident occurred with the boy."
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed grief and demanded a thorough investigation.
“Ajit, from Kaphanwada village, had been sent to Russia by his family with great hopes and by pooling their hard-earned money… The news of Ajit’s body being found in the river is utterly shocking," he wrote, adding, “In suspicious circumstances, we have lost a promising young boy."
He also echoed the family’s anguish, noting that they had been hoping and praying for the student’s safe return.
Jitendra Singh urged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to ensure the swift repatriation of Chaudhary’s remains and to press Russian authorities for a comprehensive probe.
“The family should not have to run around your offices anymore," he said.
University Yet To Issue Statement
Bashkir State Medical University has not yet released a statement on Ajit Singh Chaudhary’s death. Further details from Russian authorities- including the cause of death and the status of the investigation- are awaited.
