Operation Sindoor may be on hold, but India is banking on its diplomacy to corner Pakistan globally. On Thursday, an Indian delegation met top officials of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate as New Delhi stepped up efforts to designate The Resistance Front (TRF), an LeT proxy, as a UN-listed terror outfit.

As the UN bodies conveyed their condolences on the April 22 Pahalgam attack, discussions were held to implement key Security Council counter-terrorism resolutions. The key areas of cooperation also include supporting victims of terrorism and countering its financing.

India’s plan is to get LeT-backed TRF banned by the sanctions committee after the UN Security Council issued a press statement condemning the Pahalgam attack “in the strongest terms" but did not mention TRF as the group responsible for the attack.

The Indian teams will brief the 1267 monitoring committee in the next few days in an effort to block out Pakistan and ensure it pays for fomenting terror on India’s soil.

The evidence that India may produce to link TRF with LeT could be digital signatures, digital intercepts, money trail, and physical connections. The emphasis of the Indian government is on Bahawalpur and Muridke—terror camps of Jaish & Lashkar that were struck by Indian forces in Operation Sindoor.

Meanwhile, sources also said India briefed defence attachés of around 70 foreign nations about the “new normal" between India and Pakistan, giving them details and timelines of the planning process, strikes, and confirmed terror linkages of the locations hit in Operation Sindoor. The defence attachés were shown solid proof, including satellite images, technical data, and assessments. The sources added that many of the proofs had not yet come out in the public domain.

In the briefing on Tuesday, India placed a credible record of the relentless anti-India misinformation campaign conducted by the adversary and its ramifications on regional peace and stability. The officials were also briefed on the indigenous system that played a key role.

China, which has thrown its support behind Pakistan, was not invited for the briefing, while Turkey—which also has sided with Pakistan—was invited, but they were denied after they decided to send a junior officer.

Indian teams are going to be in New York for the next two-three days to keep up the diplomatic pressure on Pakistan and create grounds against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
