Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay on Tuesday challenged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin not to target his party workers following the deadly stampede at a rally he led in Karur.

In his first public message after the tragedy on September 27, which claimed 41 lives and injured nearly 60, Vijay said in a video posted on social media, “CM sir, if you have a thought of seeking vengeance, you may do anything to me and not touch the party men."

Vijay added, “You may do anything to me," as senior party leaders including TVK state general secretary Bussy N Anand and deputy general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar face police cases linked to the incident.
