Actor-turned-Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday slammed former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s fresh warning to India over changes to the Indus Waters Treaty.
Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Mithun Chakraborty said, “Agar aisi baatein karte rahenge aur humari khopdi sanak gayi toh phir ek ke baad ek BrahMos challenge (if such statements continue and we lose our patience, then BrahMos missiles will be launched one after another)."
In a remark laced with sarcasm, the BJP leader further said, “We have also thought of building a dam where 140 crore people will pee. After that, we will open the dam, and a tsunami will occur. I have nothing against the people of Pakistan. I have said all of this for him (Bilawal Bhutto)."

At an event organised by the Culture Department of the Government of Sindh, former Pakistani foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari alleged that diverting the Indus River’s water away from Pakistan amounted to an assault on the nation’s history, culture, and civilisation, with Sindh being most affected.
In a separate and highly alarming incident, Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir issued a direct threat over the Indus Waters Treaty during a private dinner in Tampa, Florida. Munir warned that Pakistan would launch missile strikes on Indian dams if the treaty continued to be suspended.
Addressing members of the Pakistani diaspora, Munir declared, “We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, phir 10 missile sey faarigh kar dengey [we will destroy it with 10 missiles]."
The remarks were delivered at a black-tie event hosted by Pakistan’s honorary consul in Tampa, attended by roughly 120 members of the diaspora. Phones and digital devices were prohibited at the gathering, and while no official transcript was released, multiple eyewitnesses have provided accounts of Munir’s statement to media outlets.
