Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interactions with world leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit that broke the internet in China.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bonhomie stole the spotlight. The two leaders were seen strolling hand-in-hand, sharing a hug, and even cruising around in President Putin’s car. Social media went into overdrive, especially in China, where clips of the “Modi-Putin moments" instantly shot to the top of trending lists.
On Chinese number one search engine, Baidu, the top trend read: “Modi and Putin hugged and chatted hand-in-hand."
On Chinese social media platform, Weibo, it was even simpler: “Modi takes Putin’s car."
The video of PM Modi sharing a lighter moment with President Putin was also viral on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
One Weibo user remarked: “Modi rides Putin’s car that’s more symbolic than any speech at the summit."
Along with this, PM’s presence in China itself caught the attention of social media in China as well. On Tuesday morning, “Modi is positive about China." was seen trending on Weibo and has been viewed over 7 million times.
