Thai authorities have confirmed that the deportation of the Luthra brothers could be delayed. In an exclusive response to queries from CNN-News18, a spokesperson for Thai immigration stated that the final decision regarding deportation is yet to be made by higher authorities.

“Currently, they are in the process of preparing for deportation. The process is pending approval from the Commander authority, and the date, time, and flight details for their return have not been confirmed yet," said Immigration Bureau spokesperson Pol Maj Gen Choengrong Rimphadee to CNN-News18.

The spokesperson mentioned that the Luthra brothers were detained under section 12(7) of the Immigration Act of Thailand following an Interpol Blue Notice and a warrant issued by the Goa police. “On 11 December 2025, Phuket Immigration arrested two Indian nationals:

1. Mr Saurabh Luthra, Indian national, Passport No. Z7678521

2. Mr Gaurav Luthra, Indian national, Passport No. X6662478

They were arrested under Section 12(7) of the Immigration Act as subjects of an INTERPOL Blue Notice," he told CNN-News18. The brothers had slipped out of India within hours of last week’s blaze at their Goa nightclub that killed 25 people.

Detailing the sequence of events in Thailand, the spokesperson said that the Thai Immigration Bureau received official communication from the Embassy of India in Thailand, requesting assistance to arrest the two Indian nationals likely to enter Thailand.

Confirming the arrest, he said, “Now, Phuket Immigration has revoked their visa permissions to stay in Thailand and has already transferred them to the Immigration Detention Centre at Suan Phlu, Sathon, Bangkok."
