Thousands will gather at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to mark the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that shook the United States. The annual commemoration will include the reading of the names of those who died in the worst terrorist attacks in American history, bringing together families of the nearly 3,000 victims, including those of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The ceremony at Memorial Plaza will begin at 8:30 am ET, with television coverage starting at around 8:25 am ET.
It has been 24 years since four hijacked planes struck targets on the East Coast: American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City, American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 went down in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers attempted to retake control.
