The Miss Universe 2025 pageant concluded with Mexico’s Fatima Bosch taking home the crown. Thailand’s Praveenar Singh finished as the first runner-up, followed by Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, the Philippines’ Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, and Cote d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yace as the second, third and fourth runner-ups, respectively.

Celebrating the moment, the Miss Universe organisation shared a message on Instagram that read, “Congratulations to our new Miss Universe. Tonight, a star was born. Her grace, strength, and radiant spirit captured the hearts of the world, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her as our new queen. The universe shines a little brighter with her leading the way."

Controversy Over Her Walk-Out

Bosch’s win is particularly notable as it comes shortly after a dramatic incident during the preliminaries. She had walked out of the event after disagreeing with a request to promote Thailand, the host country, on her social media accounts.

Miss Universe Thailand Director Nawat Itsaragrisil reacted harshly at the time, reportedly calling her a “dumbhead". Bosch attempted to clarify her position but chose to leave when the exchange escalated. Several contestants also walked out in support.

Itsaragrisil later apologised and the competition proceeded as normal.

Who Is Fatima Bosch?

Fatima Bosch, 25, is a fashion designer who has trained in both the United States and Italy. She was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD as a child, but her family says she never allowed these challenges to hold her back.

Bosch works actively in sustainable fashion and is the first Miss Mexico winner from Tabasco. She is also known for her work with children undergoing cancer treatment. Every year, she organises a toy drive at the Oncology Hospital of Tabasco during the holiday season, according to Business Insider.

Prize Money and Perks

Winning Miss Universe brings more than just global fame. Reports say Bosch will receive $250,000 (around Rs 2.2 crore), similar to the previous year’s prize. She will also get an annual salary of $50,000 (about Rs 44 lakh), which is meant to support her travels and projects during her reign.

The winner is also given a residence in New York City for the duration of her term, along with the responsibility of carrying the Miss Universe title until 2026. The crown she will wear — valued at over $5 million (nearly Rs 44 crore) — remains one of the most expensive in pageant history.

Bosch is now the fourth woman from Mexico to win the Miss Universe crown. The country’s previous winners include Lupita Jones (1991), Ximena Navarrete (2010), and Andrea Meza (2020).
