Campbell Soup Company’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally last year branded his Indian coworkers as “idiots" in a racist tirade. The company is facing a major controversy because of several remarks made by Bally which was recorded by Robert Garza, a former cybersecurity analyst, who met the former last year for a routine salary meeting.

Garza recorded the food giant’s top executive mocking “poor people" who buy them, admitting that their chicken is 3-D printed or lab grown and also admitted that he himself has come to work “high" and that the employee who reported it was fired.

A lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Wayne County Circuit Court over the remarks.

Garza recorded Bally mocking “poor people" who buy the very products he oversaw.

“We have s–t for f–king poor people. Who buys our s–t? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore," Bally was recorded saying.

“It’s not healthy now that I know what the f–k’s in it. Bioengineered meat — I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer," he said, admitting that the meat could be lab grown.

“F–king Indians don’t know a f–king thing. They couldn’t think for their f–king selves," he said in a racist rant.

Campbell Soup defended their product and said that Bally is “temporarily on leave".

“If the comments were in fact made, they are unacceptable. They do not reflect our values and the culture of our company. We were not aware of the recording," a spokesperson said in a statement. “We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it and the high-quality ingredients we use. The comments heard on the recording about our food are not only inaccurate — they are patently absurd."

Garza said he was terminated 20 days after he raised the issue with his manager and spoke up against Bally. Garza was working with Bally in the company’s Camden, New Jersey, headquarters since September 2024 until his termination earlier this year in January.
