The central government on Tuesday clarified that it did not issue any fresh blocking order against Reuters or any other international news outlet on 3rd July.

The clarification comes after the Reuters and ReutersWorld accounts were briefly inaccessible on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in India.

According to sources, the government said it had no intention of restricting access to any prominent international news channel, including Reuters. It further added that as soon as it became aware of the issue, it promptly reached out to X to request immediate unblocking of the URLs.

“The moment Reuters and ReutersWorld were blocked on X platform in India, immediately the government wrote to ‘X’ to unblock them," the source said.
