In a fiery post, US President Donald Trump lashed out against the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, calling it “ridiculous" and reaffirming his long-standing opposition to it. Trump said the mandate has always been a major part of his campaign rhetoric, arguing that while electric cars are fine, Americans should not be “forced" to own one.
Trump also took a sharp jab at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, claiming Musk receives “more subsidy than any human being in history." Without government subsidies, Trump suggested, Musk would be forced to “close up shop and head back home to South Africa," halting everything from rocket launches to satellite production and electric vehicle manufacturing. Adding a humorous edge, Trump quipped that “DOGE should take a good, hard look at this", suggesting that significant taxpayer money could be saved by cutting such subsidies.
