Vance Luther Boelter, suspect in the fatal shooting of State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, was caught after a two-day manhunt near Green Isle, Minnesota.

The two-day-long manhunt for Minnesota shooting suspect came to a dramatic end on Monday when authorities apprehended Vance Luther Boelter (57) in a rural field near Green Isle in Sibley County.
According to media reports, Boelter, who had been on the run, was first spotted near a residence in the quiet farming community, dressed in all black and carrying a backpack. As law enforcement closed in, Boelter ran down a driveway and disappeared into the thick woods, setting off a tense hours-long search.
Just like an eerie scene from movies, the fugitive evaded police by curling into a fetal position in the underbrush, then moving through the dense foliage by beginning an army crawl. Aided by drones, a team of experts surrounded the spot as the area remained under the grips of panic.
The turning point in the chase came when a surveillance drone hovered above the suspect. Realizing evading cops was no longer an option, Boelter slowly raised his hands into the air, and walked toward waiting officers, surrendering without further incident.

Vance Luther Boelter is suspected to have fatally shot State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their home in Brooklyn Park.
In a separate attack, he also allegedly opened fire on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Both incidents were reported at around 2am on Saturday.
According to media reports, Boelter is an experienced security professional who has worked in conflict zones. He was appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board in 2019 by Governor Tim Walz. Prior to that, he served on the Governor’s Workforce Development Council, appointed in 2016 by then-Governor Mark Dayton.
