A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US leader Donald Trump began on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague on Wednesday, the Ukrainian presidency said.
The two leaders were set to discuss additional sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine and arms procurement for Kyiv, a source had earlier told AFP.
In February this year, Trump clashed bitterly with Zelenskyy at the White House in their first in-person meeting. Since then, Zelenskyy has been at pains to try to mend the relationship. The pair had a brief sit-down at the Vatican in April.
