During a discussion between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Gaza, a hot-mic moment drew attention away from the talks, as the former expressed frustration over what he felt was insufficient acknowledgment of his diplomatic achievements.

The incident occurred as Trump sat down for lunch with Netanyahu and their delegations during discussions focused on Gaza. In a clip that later went viral, Trump was heard complaining that his role in resolving conflicts had gone unrewarded. “Thirty-five years of fighting and they stopped. Do I get credit for it? No," Trump said, before trailing off mid-sentence. “They gave the Nob…," he added, in an apparent reference to the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump then listed what he described as his foreign policy achievements. “How about India and Pakistan?" he said. “So I did eight of them. And then I’ll tell you the rest of it." Moments later, noticing reporters nearby, he abruptly changed tone. “You’re going to all be outside. The beautiful sun. Enjoy your lunch," he said, before praising the meeting as productive and ushering the press out.

Trump once again repeated his claim that he helped ease tensions between India and Pakistan following recent hostilities. India has strongly rejected this claim, stating that the ceasefire understanding resulted from direct talks between the two countries’ military leadership, not third-party mediation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said no foreign leader asked India to halt Operation Sindoor.

Tensions had escalated after an April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam killed 26 people, prompting India to launch Operation Sindoor on May 7 against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

After the meeting, Netanyahu described the talks as “very, very productive" and praised the “extraordinary friendship" with Trump. He also announced that Trump would receive the Israel Prize, marking the first time the honor will be awarded to a foreign head of state.
