US VP JD Vance's meeting with Pope Francis in Italy on April 20 gained attention after Francis died less than 24 hours later.

United States Vice President JD Vance’s meeting with Pope Francis in Italy on April 20 has become a talking point on the internet after Francis died on Monday, April 21, less than 24 hours after the two met. “It’s pretty crazy," Vance said on Wednesday, during his visit to Agra, while speaking about his meeting with Francis.

“When I saw him, I didn’t know that he had less than 24 hours still on this earth. I think it was a great blessing," Vance said.

When asked whether he would attend the funeral of Pope Francis, he said it was yet to be decided as to who would attend the funeral from the US government. White House has announced US President Donald Trump will attend the funeral.

What Internet Is Saying About Vance-Pope Meeting

It has been well known how Francis had his disagreements on several policies of the Trump administration. Acknowledging how Pope Francis had his share of disagreement with the Trump administration, Vance added, “He also had a lot of agreements with the policies of our administration. I’m not going to soil the man’s legacy by talking about politics. I think he was a great Christian pastor and that’s how I choose to remember the holy father."

But the internet refused to acknowledge this JD Vance has become the centre of memes after Pope Francis died hours after their meeting.

“I know you’ve not been feeling great, but it’s good see you in better health," Vance told Pope during their meeting. A user on X wrote how “Vance was cursed" as Pope Francis died hours after their meeting.

“I pray for you every day," Vance told Pope before their meeting ended, to which, American TV host and comedian commented, “Now everyone knows JD Vance is bad at praying too."
