US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday urged India to respond carefully to last week’s terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, warning that any retaliation should not lead to a broader regional conflict.

In an interview with Fox News, Vance made his first public remarks on the attack, which left 26 people dead.

Stressing the need for measured diplomacy, Vance said, Pakistan should cooperate with India on the issue of extremism."

The Vice President’s comments come amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and 1 local, was one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent times. The terrorists had planned the attack at a scenic meadow which required hiking or using a pony service to get to the spot.
