Congress Top Brass Dials Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, Told Them To End Karnataka's Powerplay

Congress high command urges Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar to meet amid reports of a tussle over the CM post; their first meeting after intervention is set for Saturday breakfast.

Amid reports of a behind-the-scenes tussle between the two top Karnataka leaders over the Chief Minister’s post, the Congress high command has asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to hold a meeting.

Following the nudge from the party leadership, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister are scheduled to meet for breakfast on Saturday. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders after the intervention by the Congress high command.

Siddaramaiah said that both he and Shivakumar were asked by the Congress high command to meet and hold discussions. “The high command had called D.K. Shivakumar. They had called me as well. They told both of us to meet and talk. So I invited him for breakfast. When he comes there, we both will discuss everything," the Chief Minister said.

Siddaramaiah reiterated that there was no change in his stand. “I have said that I will follow what the high command says. I am saying the same now, and I will say the same tomorrow as well," he said.

He added that Shivakumar has also repeatedly said that he would abide by the high command’s decision. “He too has said many times that he will follow what the high command says. I have also said many times that I will follow what the high command says," he said.

The Chief Minister further said that all issues would be discussed during the meeting and added, “If the high command calls me to Delhi, I will go."
