Stock Market Highlights: Friday’s session was subdued as benchmark indices hovered near day’s lows, reflecting cautious investor sentiment. The Nifty breached its 20-day moving average intra-day, led lower by losses in IT and auto stocks. Sensex closed 367 points lower at 85,041, while Nifty slipped 99.8 points to 26,042.
Nifty Bank declined for the third straight session, losing 172 points, while the midcap index fell 137 points to 60,314. Sector-wise, IT and auto segments recorded the steepest declines, with Coforge down nearly 4% ahead of a proposed fundraising meet and likely acquisition of Encora.
Stylam Industries trimmed losses late in the session to end 1% lower following the Aica Kogyo deal, while railway stocks gained, with RVNL up over 12% on the new fare rollout.
Titan topped the Nifty gainers, rising 2% ahead of its lab-grown diamond store launch, while Dilip Buildcon advanced nearly 2% on multiple order wins exceeding ₹5,000 crore.
