Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national coordinator Akash Anand welcomed a baby girl, party supremo Mayawati announced on Thursday. In a post on X, Mayawati called the arrival of the new family member a moment of happiness.

The BSP chief added that her nephew, Akash, has expressed his intention to raise his daughter in alignment with the BSP’s mission.

“There is a wave of joy among all people on the arrival of a new member in the family in the form of a daughter to Shri Akash Anand, the Coordinator of the Bahujan Samaj Party (B.S.P.), and for him, an even greater matter of delight and pride is that Shri Aakash has expressed his desire to prepare his daughter to dedicate herself to the mission of the Bahujan Samaj just like the Honorable Behanji, which is wholeheartedly welcomed. Both the mother and daughter are completely healthy," the tweet read.

Akash Anand, the son of Mayawati’s youngest brother Anand Kumar, pursued his MBA in London, where he met Pragya Siddharth. The two were married at a resort in Gurugram in 2023, with the wedding taking place on March 26 and a reception following in Noida on March 28. Pragya, Akash Anand’s wife, is a medical professional and the daughter of former BSP MP Ashok Siddharth.
