Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) reported a 12.5% year-on-year decline in coking coal production to 2.17 million tonnes (mt) in June, while raw coal offtake remained largely flat at 2.69 mt, according to the company's provisional monthly production performance.
Overall raw coal production declined 11.8% YoY to 2.29 mt during the month, compared with 2.60 mt a year earlier. Non-coking coal production stood at 0.12 mt, up 2.6% from the previous year.
Production from opencast mines fell 12.3% YoY to 2.24 mt, while underground mine production rose 24.3% to 0.05 mt. Washed coking coal production was broadly stable at 0.14 mt, down 0.8% from a year ago.
Overburden removal declined 16.1% to 10.84 million cubic metres, while raw coal offtake was nearly unchanged at 2.69 mt, compared with the corresponding month last year.
For the April-June 2026 period, BCCL's raw coal production fell 27.5% YoY to 6.56 mt, while coking coal output declined 27.9% to 6.21 mt. Raw coal offtake during the quarter dropped 14.8% to 7.65 mt, with overburden removal down 35.5% to 31.88 million cubic metres.
