The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has released a video featuring its newly-formed women’s combat unit, and claimed that nine Pakistani military personnel were killed, and several others injured in two attacks.
The footage shows a female commander briefing the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD) fighters before an alleged attack on a Quick Reaction Force convoy in Turbat, while separate visuals show the women fighters conducting snap checks in the Mangchar area of Kalat.
According to the insurgent group, the Kalat operation was the unit’s second.
The claims of killing and injuring the military personnel have not been independently verified.
WOMAN COMMANDER BRIEFS FIGHTERS
The video released by the BLF prominently features women fighters and shows a female commander briefing members of the unit about a mission in Turbat.
The footage also includes what the group describes as training involving KAAD members, before showing fighters firing at a military vehicle convoy from close range.
The BLF claimed the attack targeted a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) convoy on the CPEC road in the Josak area of Turbat.
The video also shows KAAD members stopping vehicles and conducting snap checks in the Mangchar area of Kalat.
The BLF has presented the footage as evidence of the unit's training and operational capabilities.
BLF CLAIMS KAAD CARRIED OUT 2ND OP
According to the BLF, KAAD carried out its second operation.
The group said it developed the unit into an organised combat force through years of training and preparation, and claimed its continued operations reflected the growing role of female fighters within the organisation.
The footage released by the BLF shows women fighters participating in training, briefing and field activities, with the woman commander seen leading the fighters before the alleged Turbat attack.
The group said it was waging an armed struggle against Pakistani forces over alleged enforced disappearances and rights violations in Balochistan.
