US President Donald Trump on Friday lashed out at the Supreme Court of the United States after it struck down his global tariff regime, calling the decision “deeply disappointing” and accusing some justices of being influenced by foreign interests.
Reacting publicly to the court’s 6-3 ruling, Trump said he was “ashamed of certain members of the Court” for blocking his use of emergency powers to impose sweeping import duties.
He claimed the judgment would embolden America’s trading partners.
“Foreign countries are so happy,” Trump said, suggesting that governments targeted by his tariffs were celebrating the decision.
But he warned that the reprieve would not last. “Countries won’t be dancing for long,” he added, signaling that he could pursue alternative measures to advance his trade agenda.
