App Store is a prime estate for advertisers and Apple is hoping to get more brands signed up for app suggestions next year.

Apple is going to show you more ads on the App Store
Apple has avoided showing ads to a large extent but 2026 is going to see the company change its plans and have more ads plastered all over the App Store when you search for apps. Most of the tech companies use ads as a strong source of revenue, something that Apple has not done for many years but things are going to be different with the new policy coming into force from next year.
The Apple Ads platform will be hosting these changes and giving more real estate within the App Store for brands/developers to advertise their apps. You might have seen app suggestions popping on the App Store when searching for new apps, and this space is going to get bigger when the new policy comes into effect.
More Ads On App Store: But Why?
Apple’s ad focus has been mild to say the least, and till now you have seen just one ad (app suggestions) in the App Store. But the changes coming in 2026 could make the platform completely different on that front. The company claims it wants to give advertisers more space to list their apps in the results and not just be limited to the top of the screen for the users.
Apple says search is the best tool for advertisers to increase their downloads, which is already happening at a high scale and the company wants to drive up its value further. More importantly, iPhone and other Apple users rely on the App Store for apps, and more than 800 million visits on the App Store drives home this very significant point. And this makes it a prime estate for brands looking to increase their reach and downloads on the platform.
Giving brands the means to advertise on the App Store feels more like something Google or Meta would do, but here we are. Having said that, brands showing their ads on the App Store will have no control on its placement and Apple will get them placed depending on the auction value of a spot and how much that company has spent to get advertised.
The format of the ads will be the same, no matter where they are placed and Apple will be charging these advertisers for metrics like cost-per-tap and cost-per-install for each user searching and downloading their app.
