Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar passed away in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. The ist Congress Party (NCP) chief was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati, where he was scheduled to attend multiple political events. According to preliminary information, the plane encountered trouble while landing at Baramati.
As per a statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), there were no survivors in the Mumbai to Baramati charter plane crash. Five people have lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Ajit Pawar was famous for his love of spicy Maharashtrian cuisine. The NCP leader was often seen enjoying a plate of misal pav, a dish made using sprouted lentil curry (misal) and served with pav. He was also reportedly fond of bhel puri and chivda.
Has Ajit Pawar Been Seen Enjoying Misal Pav Publicly?
The late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister was often seen having misal pav at events in Pune. During the Mahatma Phule Jayanti celebrations in April last year, which saw 10,000 kg of misal pav being distributed, Pawar was seen enjoying the dish.
Videos show the NCP leader asking for extra rassa (gravy) without onions or oil at popular spots like Ghadge Misal and Jogeshwari Misal.
In January last year, Pawar talked about missing out on misal at an event, emphasising his fondness for the Maharashtrian dish.
What Other Food Preferences Has Ajit Pawar Exhibited Publicly?
While no official list of his favourite foods exists, Ajit Pawar seemed to enjoy Maharashtrian food often in public. He was seen enjoying bhel puri at a family event in Pune last year. The political leader seemed to enjoy the savoury snack and even gestured that it was good. The moment emphasised Pawar’s down-to-earth palate and his love for enjoying the same food as his constituents.
Pawar had a fondness for rural Maharashtrian dishes such as bajari bhakari with harbhara dal (Bengal gram vegetable). He also bought vegetable chapatis from street vendors. Ajit Pawar was seen sampling ladoo and chivda at various events.

Does Ajit Pawar Have A Specific Food Favourite?
While public appearances suggest that Ajit Pawat enjoyed misal pav a lot, there is no confirmed source stating that the spicy Maharashtrian staple was his favourite. The NCP leader’s food preferences seem to reflect a down-to-earth palate that was consistent with his Baramati roots.
