The police personnel killed earlier were identified as Constable Sajjad Hussain, killed in Tank; Assistant Sub-Inspector Mumtaz Ali, killed in Lakki Marwat; and Constable Hammad, killed in Swat.
At least five security personnel were killed and twelve others injured in a series of attacks by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Monday. The attacks took place in Lakki Marwat, Tank, Swat and Bajaur districts.
The police personnel killed earlier were identified as Police Constable Sajjad Hussain, killed in Tank; Assistant Sub-Inspector Mumtaz Ali, killed in Lakki Marwat; and Police Constable Hammad, killed in Swat.
In Bajaur, two security forces personnel, including a Major-rank officer, were killed and four others injured when militants detonated a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a convoy. One vehicle was damaged, and a heavy exchange of fire continued between security forces and militants. Additional forces were dispatched to evacuate the injured and secure the area.
Intelligence sources told CNN-News18 that the attacks appear to be coordinated probes by the TTP to test police response times and control in relatively soft districts, ahead of larger operations in 2026. The militants are exploiting local recruitment networks, night-time mobility and gaps in police infrastructure, with heightened activity in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Malakand belt.
Officials described the strikes as part of a phased escalation strategy aimed at weakening the morale of provincial police before targeting high-value military assets in the coming year.
Authorities have tightened security across vulnerable districts and launched operations to track down the attackers while reviewing countermeasures to prevent further incidents.
