Zydus Life hikes buyback price to ₹1,260; cuts size to 87.30 lakh equity shares

Zydus Lifesciences Ltd on Wednesday (May 27) said its Buyback Committee has approved an increase in the buyback price and a reduction in the number of equity shares to be repurchased under its ongoing buyback programme. The company said the buyback price has been increased from ₹1,150 per equity share to ₹1,260 per equity share.

It also said the maximum number of equity shares proposed to be bought back has been reduced from 95.65 lakh equity shares to 87.30 lakh equity shares, representing up to 0.87% of the total number of equity shares in the paid-up share capital of the company.

The buyback is being undertaken at a total aggregate amount not exceeding ₹1,100 crore through the tender offer route in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013 and SEBI (Buy-Back of Securities) Regulations, 2018. Zydus Lifesciences said the Buyback Committee approved the revisions at its meeting held on May 27, 2026.

In May this year, Zydus Lifesciences approved a ₹1,100-crore share buyback. The company’s board approved the buyback of up to 95.65 lakh equity shares at ₹1,150 apiece through the tender offer route.

Promoters will also participate in the buyback, with May 29, 2026, fixed as the record date for determining shareholder eligibility. The price of the buyback is at a premium of 16% in comparison to the company's closing price on Monday, May 25.

Shares of Zydus Lifesciences Ltd ended at ₹1,085.95, up by ₹7, or 0.65%, on the BSE today, May 27.
