WhatsApp continues to introduce a range of features for its users as it aims to increase user interaction. And the tech giant is testing a new feature that will further enhance the user experience of the messaging app. As per tipster WABetaInfo, the messaging app will soon lets people react to messages and media using stickers.

While the platform currently offers emoji reactions that allows users to express their feelings about a message by selecting an emoji from the app, WhatsApp is also adding sticker reactions for conversations and media files to its Android app.

These stickers will reportedly support the entire range of stickers available in WhatsApp’s official packs, third-party stickers imported via external apps, previously saved stickers, or any stickers generated by users themselves.

The tipster also mentioned that animated stickers will also be supported as reactions. But here’s the catch. The animated stickers must be designed by the users using the Lottie Framework. By incorporating animated stickers, the messaging app aims to enhance WhatsApp users’ ability to react to messages with more expressive and dynamic visuals than traditional static emojis.

The feature was spotted on the latest WhatsApp beta 2.25.13.23 update for Android smartphones. Sticker reactions for messages and media are already available for iPhone users on iMessage.

The report says users can long-press a message to open the pop-up menu, with six available emojis alongside a sticker. The options can be customised to add stickers, and these can then be used as a reaction to a message.

It is worth noting that the feature is currently under beta testing for Android devices, and Meta is likely to expand it to iOS devices in the coming days. Considering the development phase, we expect it is expected that Meta might roll out this feature to everyone in the next few weeks.
