Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, fondly known as Thalapathy Vijay, will be the chief ministerial face of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for the Tamil Nadu election, his party announced on Friday.
The TVK passed a special resolution adopted in the party’s executive committee meeting, naming its founder Vijay as the party’s CM candidate.
Vijay said that his party will not ally with the DMK and the BJP directly or indirectly for the 2026 Tamil Nadu polls. He added that the BJP will never grow in Tamil Nadu.
“We are not like the DMK or the AIADMK to form an alliance with the BJP for political gains because we are TVK," he added.
As per the resolution, the party will head the alliance of parties which are not in the camps of DMK, AIADMK and the BJP.
