Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, wife of four-time Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, was brutally assaulted on Tuesday when a violent mob of 'Gen Z' protesters stormed their residence in Kathmandu.

A dramatic video from the attack, now viral on social media, shows the minister being kicked, punched, and manhandled by protesters after they forced their way into her home. In chaotic scenes, another group of demonstrators can be seen stepping in to shield her from further blows.

The incident came amid escalating anti-government protests led by Gen Zers against corruption, nepotism, and the recent social media ban. Although the government lifted the ban following the unrest, the agitation continued, with demonstrators accusing the ruling leadership of widespread corruption and mismanagement.

The protests, now in their third consecutive day, turned violent as agitators vandalised government property, set fire to the Parliament building, and even targeted the offices of the Prime Minister and President. In the wake of the turmoil, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday.

At least 22 people have died and more than 300 have been injured since the protests began. The Nepal Army has been deployed in major cities, with personnel patrolling streets and urging citizens through loudspeakers to maintain peace and refrain from joining the unrest.
