Apple, however, fell 3.3% after the iPhone maker estimated that tariffs will cost it $900 million. Banks and other financial companies also made solid gains. JPMorgan Chase rose 2.1% and Visa jumped 1.6%. The US job growth was robust in April, and the unemployment rate held steady, suggesting uncertainty over President Donald Trump’s trade policy has yet to have a material impact on hiring plans. Nonfarm payrolls increased 177,000 last month after the prior month’s advance was revised lower, according to Bureau of Labour Statistics data out Friday. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.2%. Berkshire Hathaway Inc. will release its Q1 earnings on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m. IST. The company will also hold its 2025 Annual Shareholders Meeting on the same day. The market is now focused on the upcoming US non-farm payrolls report, which is scheduled for release at 6:00 p.m. IST on Friday.
