The US Department of State has issued a worldwide caution urging American citizens to exercise increased vigilance in light of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

The ongoing hostilities have already led to disruptions in travel and intermittent airspace closures across the Middle East. Officials have also warned of the potential for demonstrations targeting U.S. citizens and interests abroad. Travelers are advised to review the latest Travel Advisories, country-specific information, and security alerts before making any international travel plans.

The official statement made no reference to the United States’ overnight intervention, during which American warplanes bombed multiple nuclear facilities in Iran, a strike that Tehran has warned could have “irreparable consequences."

In response to the unprecedented air raids, which the Pentagon claimed severely damaged Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, the Islamic Republic issued direct threats against U.S. military assets in the region. On Sunday, Tehran warned that American bases across the Middle East could come under attack in retaliation. “Any country in the region or elsewhere that is used by American forces to strike Iran will be considered a legitimate target for our armed forces," said Ali Akbar Velayati, senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a message published by IRNA, Iran’s state news agency.

Meanwhile, the United States began evacuation flights on Saturday for its citizens and permanent residents living in Israel and the West Bank. Additionally, it ordered staff at U.S. diplomatic missions in Iraq and Lebanon to leave those countries amid growing fears of regional spillover.
