The FOMC decision is scheduled for 2:00 PM Eastern Time (11:30 PM IST), followed by a press conference by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at 2:30 PM ET (12:00 AM IST on June 18).
Markets are pricing in a policy pause, with the benchmark interest rate expected to remain in the 3.5%–3.75% range.
Inflation in the US has climbed to a three-year high of 4.2%, according to government data released last week, largely driven by higher gas prices. The surge has been linked to increased energy costs following President Donald Trump's war on Iran, which pushed oil prices higher.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a fresh all-time intraday record on Wednesday as oil prices rose and traders awaited the latest monetary policy decision from the Federal Reserve.
