US envoy to India Sergio Gor joined President Donald Trump for celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence, including a trip to Mount Rushmore and other events. Gor, who arrived in Washington last week, has also been meeting senior members of the Trump administration and lawmakers during the visit.

Over the past week, Gor shared updates from engagements with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Vice President J D Vance, US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, and Congressmen Brian Mast and Bill Huizenga. Several of these interactions touched on India and South Asia.

In a post on X on Friday, Gor shared a photograph with Trump onboard Air Force One and wrote, "An incredible trip to Mt. Rushmore with the Greatest President." Earlier in the week, he was in New York with Bessent and posted a picture of them with the Statue of Liberty in the background. He also joined Vance and Pirro for dinner at the White House.

Gor was also present at the second Pax Silica Summit hosted by Helberg. In a post on X, Helberg said, "Thrilled to have my friend Ambassador Gor join us at the second Pax Silica Summit. India is a vital Pax Silica partner-driving pro-innovation regulation, trusted AI infrastructure, and resilient supply chains. We look forward to continuing to build trusted ecosystems that will power the AI economy for decades to come."

He also met Mast and Huizenga and discussed issues related to India. Gor wrote on X, "Great catching up with Chairman Brian Mast of the House Foreign Relations Committee. Had an excellent meeting focused on India and South Asia alongside Congressman Bill Huizenga. Both are true patriots."

Before taking up the assignment as ambassador to India in January, Gor was Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, which is responsible for key appointments in the Trump administration. At the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Leadership Summit, political strategist and Trump supporter Al Mason introduced him as an "exceptionally talented friend" chosen by the President to reset ties with India.

Mason said, "When it comes to statecraft, Ambassador Sergio Gor is a masterclass of friendship diplomacy. Just as President Trump is known for the art of the deal, Sergio Gor is known for the art of friendship." He added, "Friendship is his DNA. Relationships are his operating system." According to Mason, Gor conveyed three basic truths to Prime Minister Modi: "President Trump respects India's rise, President Trump admires Prime Minister Modi's leadership, and President Trump wants a stronger India-US relationship." Mason also credited Gor with helping restore momentum to the India-US relationship following his appointment as ambassador.

The visit brought together Independence Day celebrations, meetings with top administration figures and lawmakers, and public praise from Trump allies for Gor's role in India-US ties.
