Day after India won the T20 World Cup, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs, congratulations continued to pour in.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Sunday extended congratulations to Team India for their win in the T20 World Cup.
“Congratulations to Team India on their victory in the T20 Cricket World Cup!" Gor shared a post on X.

India made history on Sunday by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to win three Men’s T20 World Cup titles while successfully defending their crown. Suryakumar Yadav became the third Indian captain after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to win the title.
India’s victory was built on a dominant performance in the final. Batting first, the hosts amassed a massive 255/5 in their 20 overs, the highest total ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final. Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 89 off 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma struck a rapid 52 and Ishan Kishan added 54, putting New Zealand under immense pressure.
The bowlers then backed up the batting effort with a clinical display, dismantling New Zealand’s chase early. Jasprit Bumrah produced a match-winning spell of 4/15, while Axar Patel chipped in with three wickets as the Black Caps were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs.
President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday congratulated the Indian cricket team as he commended every single player, the entire management, and the support staff, stating that they all deserve the highest praise for this collective achievement.
India holds the proud distinction of being the only country to have won the T20 World Cup three times. Additionally, it is the only team to have secured the cup twice in a row, she noted in a post on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his congratulationsas he stated that this remarkable achievement highlights the team’s exceptional skills, determination and teamwork.
He posted: “Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination and teamwork. They have shown outstanding grit through the tournament. This victory has filled every Indian heart with pride and joy. Well done, Team India!"
