UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie Visits Hospitals In Ukraine's Kherson

Angelina Jolie visited Kherson, Ukraine, touring hospitals and meeting patients as part of a charitable aid programme, amid ongoing conflict and global calls for peace.

Hollywood star and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie on Wednesday made an unexpected visit to Ukraine’s Kherson.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Jolie toured local medical facilities, including a maternity hospital and a children’s hospital.

She also inspected conditions of patients, spoke with doctors and mothers in the maternity ward. The actor also played with the patients in the children hospital.

Ukraine Today reported that the actor reportedly was in Ukraine as part of a charitable aid programme.

Jolie has been a UNHCR Special Envoy for Refugees since 2011. She had previously visited the country in 2022 on her own initiative. During the visit, she interacted with refugees displaced by the war with Russia at the Lviv railway station. The actress also visited a hospital to meet kids wounded in the Kramatorsk railway attack in Lviv, Ukraine.

“They must be in shock … I know how trauma affects children, I know just having somebody show how much they matter, how much their voices matter, I know how healing that is for them," she said.

Recently, US President has repeatedly urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to focus on ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Trump’s remarks came after Putin, in his address to the Federal Assembly, announced that Moscow had developed a compact nuclear power unit capable of extending a missile’s range almost indefinitely. According to Russian state agency TASS, Putin claimed the Burevestnik missile had “no analogues in the world," adding that Russia had successfully tested the weapon and planned to deploy it.
