The United Kingdom and the United States are preparing to finalise a landmark technology agreement in the coming days as part of President Donald Trump’s visit to Britain, the British Embassy in Washington said Saturday.

The deal is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two nations’ trillion-dollar technology industries, creating new opportunities for businesses and consumers across the Atlantic.

Although negotiations were still underway, the embassy said the agreement will prioritise areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications, and quantum computing.

“Cutting-edge technology such as AI and quantum computing will transform our lives,” UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall, who assumed her role on September 5, said in a statement.

Trump is scheduled to travel to the UK on Tuesday for a three-day state visit, his second to the country. He will be joined by a delegation of US executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.

As part of a series of deals expected to be unveiled during the visit, BlackRock plans to invest $700 million in British data centers, Sky News reported Saturday.

Since the beginning of the year, both countries have published AI Action Plans. US companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI have expanded with offices in London, while UK-based firms like DeepMind continue to invest in cross-Atlantic partnerships.
