The White House says President Trump will decide Hamas's deadline to accept a Gaza ceasefire proposal, urging disarmament, prisoner swaps, Israeli withdrawal, and international transitional governance.

The White House on Thursday said that President Donald Trump will determine how long to give Hamas to accept a US and Israel-backed proposal for halting fighting in Gaza, while stopping short of confirming whether a deadline he previously mentioned would be enforced.
Trump earlier this week suggested Hamas had three to four days to respond to the 20-point framework, which includes an immediate ceasefire, a full hostage-prisoner exchange, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament, and the installation of a transitional government led by an international authority.
Asked on Fox News when Hamas would be considered to have “walked away” from the deal, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said: “It’s a very good question, and it’s a red line that the president of the United States is going to have to draw. And I’m confident that he will.”
Leavitt called the plan “comprehensive” and “applauded all over the world,” urging Hamas to accept it in order to move the process forward.
Hamas is currently reviewing the proposal, a source close to the group said Wednesday. The militant group has long rejected calls to disarm, and many of the plan’s elements echo previous ceasefire proposals that have stalled in recent years.
