Canada plans to recognise the State of Palestine at a meeting of the United Nations in September, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on Wednesday. However, Canada’s plan of action did not seem to fit well with Donald Trump, as soon after Carney’s announcement the US President issued a warning and stated that backing statehood for Palestine would make it “very hard" for the US to make a Trade Deal with Ottawa.
“Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine. That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!" Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
