US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had “apologised and surrendered" to its Middle East neighbours after Iran launched multiple drone and missile strikes in its neighbourhood following sustained US and Israeli attacks.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran had promised it would no longer target neighbouring countries, attributing the move to what he described as relentless US and Israeli military pressure.

“Iran, which is being beat to hell, has apologised and surrendered to its Middle East neighbours, and promised that it will not shoot at them anymore," Trump wrote.

Trump further alleged that Iran’s actions were driven by the ongoing military campaign and said the country had lost influence in the region. He claimed Iran had previously sought to dominate the Middle East but was now no longer the “bully" of the region.

The remarks came as Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian, issued a rare public apology to neighbouring countries that were affected by Iranian missile and drone attacks during the ongoing war.

Pezeshkian said Iran’s leadership had decided to halt attacks on nearby countries unless they were used as a base for strikes against Iran. “I personally apologise to neighbouring countries that were affected by Iran’s actions," he said.

The apology follows a week of escalating violence across the region after the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States expanded beyond Iranian territory. Iranian missiles and drones targeted several Gulf states hosting US military facilities, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, prompting strong regional condemnation.

The war has already caused significant casualties and widespread disruption across the Middle East, including strikes on infrastructure, airports and energy facilities. Civilian casualties have been reported in multiple countries as Israel and the United States continue air operations against Iranian targets.

Despite the apology, Pezeshkian rejected calls by Trump for Iran’s “unconditional surrender," saying the country would continue defending itself if attacked.
