US President Donald Trump brushed off a question about the Jeffrey Epstein case while accusing the media of pursuing a “witch hunt" and urging them to focus instead on corruption allegations against Democrats. Dismissing focus on the Jeffrey Epstein files, Donald Trump told a reporter, “You ought to take a look at that and stop talking about nonsense" as he called the matter “ridiculous" and “a distraction."

His comments come after Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that the Department of Justice is preparing to meet Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s long-time associate who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. Todd Blanche said prosecutors have contacted Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyers “to determine whether she would be willing to speak with the government," adding, “If Ghislaine Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say."

Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney David Oscar Marcus confirmed the discussions, saying, “Ghislaine will always testify truthfully. We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case."

Donald Trump Slams Democrats

Turning the spotlight back to his political rivals, Donald Trump went on a sweeping rant accusing Democrats of criminal activity without offering proof. He called former US President Barack Obama “seditious," repeated his longstanding attacks on “crooked" Hillary Clinton and said the Department of Justice should pursue charges against Joe Biden and Barack Obama over what he claimed were illegal investigations into his 2016 campaign.

“For what they’ve done to this country, the justice department will have to act," Donald Trump said, adding that Attorney General Pam Bondi would “decide what happens next."

Donald Trump also renewed attacks on the January 6 Congressional Committee, calling its bipartisan members “scum," and repeated his desire to see California Senator Adam Schiff imprisoned- a claim he’s made several times before.

Donald Trump Takes Aim At Media

Donald Trump saved some of his sharpest words for the media, claiming that outlets such as the New York Times and Wall Street Journal are “publishing hoaxes" and “witch hunts." He is currently suing the Wall Street Journal and its parent company News Corp for defamation over a report that included details about Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged connections to him.

Donald Trump said, “This is all a distraction. All of it. They’re scared because they know what’s coming. They know we’re going to win and they’re panicking."
