Berkshire Hathaway made some changes to its portfolio at the end of the April-June period, the first few under its new CEO Greg Abel, after Warren Buffett took a step back from the day-to-day affairs of the mega conglomerate. While the fund has doubled-down on its stake in Alphabet, it has deployed its massive cash pile into a flurry of home-builder names as well. Here's a look at its top 10 holdings:

Apple remains Berkshire Hathaway's largest holding, which as of June 30, valued at $66 billion. The holdings have remained unchanged from the previous quarter, as in no new buying or selling in the stock was done during the quarter. The shares of Apple have gained 12.9% in the year-to-date period.

American Express remains the second-largest holding of Berkshire Hathaway at the end of the June quarter. These holdings were valued at nearly $52 billion at the end of Q2. No fresh buying or selling was done in this stock either in Q2. The shares of American Express have declined by 8.1% in the year-to-date period.

Berkshire Hathaway has doubled down on its Google-parent Alphabet Inc. stake. At the end of Q2, that stake stood at nearly $38 billion, a 83.2% jump from the previous quarter. CEO Greg Abel, who had taken over from Warren Buffett at the start of the year, had disclosed a $10 billion stock investment in Alphabet in June. The shares of Alphabet have gained as much as 8.95% in the year-to-date period.
