Nepal Flash Floods: MHA Monitors Situation, NDRF Alerted As UP & Bihar Prep For Water Surge

The Union Home Ministry has issued a statement confirming that the Central government is closely monitoring the flash floods in Nepal. Multiple ministries, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, Jal Shakti, and Defence, are tracking the situation continuously. The Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been placed on high alert with relief and rescue teams stationed in border areas. Although Central Water Commission (CWC) reports indicate that water levels in Nepal are receding, concerns remain regarding potential flood surges downstream along the Gandak River. In response, state authorities in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have initiated measures to relocate residents in border districts to safer locations. Experts note that hydrological monitoring centers in Nepal and China suffered damage during the incident, necessitating ongoing analysis by regional institutions like ICIMOD.
