The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for allegedly offering Rs 1,000 crore for the “financial requirements of the Gandhi family", saying the hard-earned revenue of the state belongs to public welfare.

In a recent speech, Reddy said the Congress workers in Telangana are ready to arrange Rs 1,000 crores for the Gandhi family, should they experience any kind of financial instability. “Is money a priority for the Gandhi family which sacrificed three generations for the sake of the country? If seriously, money was the need of the Gandhi family, could the Congress workers not arrange Rs 10,000 crores for them?" he said

“The Congress and the country cannot be separated. Congress is the soul of this nation," he said, adding that Congress workers in Telangana can raise Rs 1,000 crores for the family.

The comments drew sharp responses from BJP spokesperson NV Subhash and the party’s IT in-charge, Amit Malviya, who questioned if Reddy was using the state revenues as an ATM for the Gandhi family.

“Shocking statement by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy! At a time when Telangana’s youth are waiting for DSC notifications and farmers are struggling for Rythu Bharosa, the Chief Minister boasts about mobilising ₹1,000 crore for the “financial requirements" of the Gandhi family," said Malviya on X.

“Not too long ago, the Telangana CM had claimed that he had no money for loan repayment and infrastructure. Is Telangana’s hard-earned revenue meant for public welfare or for serving a single dynasty in Delhi? For the Congress, is Telangana a state to develop, or merely an ATM for 10 Janpath?" he asked.

Malviya said the people of Telangana deserved a government that prioritised their aspirations, livelihoods and future rather than the demands of a high command.

The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) also criticised the Telangana Chief Minister. “For the past two years, we have repeatedly said that Telangana state has turned into an ATM for the Congress party. Now, Revanth Reddy himself has shamelessly admitted it," said BRS President KT Rama Rao.

“In just two years, this government has taken loans of three lakh crores, yet hasn’t laid even a single brick in the state. “All they are doing is – like a gang of dacoits – looting Telangana, hoarding it for themselves, and carrying bags to Delhi just to save their own positions!" he added.

“With the recent statements of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to pool in Rs 1000 crores from Telangana Congress to the Gandhi family, now it is proven that the Telangana state has become an ATM to the AICC.," said BRS spokesperson Krishank Manne.

This came as Revanth Reddy attacked the BJP for insulting" Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by levelling allegations of corruption against them. He alleged a conspiracy to silence the Gandhi-Nehru family, who he said represent the Dalits, STs and minorities.
